ContextSpain demanded a permanent council seat at Geneva and, failing to get one, decided at a cabinet council presided over by King Alfonso to quit the League of Nations. The formal note reached the secretary general this morning, held back, it is said, so that Germany's admission on Tuesday would not be embarrassed.
