ContextA cage plunged to the bottom of a 2,600-foot shaft at the Oliver Iron Mining Company's Pabst mine at Ironwood, in Michigan's iron country, when rock and earth gave way on Friday. Three bodies were cut free today with acetylene torches, and rescuers say there is no danger from water or gas for the 43 men cut off on the eighth level.
